Biology
The Broccoli are tall, dark green bi-pedal Veggienoids that have incorporated the use of cybernetic devices throughout their bodies. They normally require oxygen atmospheres and cold artic climates on icy planets, but can adapt to more hostile environments over time. Broccoli usually stand 15-20cm in height with a mass around 300g, depending on their function in the collective. They are extremely strong and their senses are aided by implanted devices, but are less mobile due to their increased mass. Aside from the Broccoli, the Collective also includes Brussels Sprouts, who have been modified in a similar fashion with cybernetics. They are light green bi-pedal Veggienoids spherical in shape, but much smaller than Broccoli, only 5-8cm in height and 75g in weight. Reproduction is entirely artificial as Broccoli no longer have sexes, with large crops being grown throughout the year. Artificial devices are implanted early in the growth process and once integrated cannot be removed without the death of the individual. Nourishment is provided by a variety of rich vitamin supplements and energy for mechanical components served by rechargeable battery packs. A Broccoli's typical lifespans last 5-8 years before their biological and cybernetic components are recycled for the next generation.

Society
The Broccoli Collective is under the control of the Primary Node, a single Broccoli who is integrated into the central processing core of the Collective. The Primary Node provides the fundamental directives that guide the Collective in all its actions. Direct commands are usually issued by regional or local Broccoli nodes, similar to the Primary Node, that analyze incoming information and determine the appropriate response. There are no individuals in the collective and all actions are a direct result of the primary directives. The lowest level of the Collective is made up of the drones, who perform all of the tasks required to keep the Collective functional and expanding. All members of the Collective are linked and incoming information is assimilated and quickly transmitted to higher levels, although commands are only sent to those that require it to perform the required tasks. The Collective systemically removes all resources from their planet to provide for their economy. Broccoli dwell in large hive-like structures that cover most of their planet.

History
The Broccoli and Brussels Sprouts were once entirely organic lifeforms that lived in relative peace for many centuries. The advent of cybernetics and nanotechnology and their increased use in organic systems led to the first cybernetic Broccoli in mostly medical and industrial applications. A short time after, a war between two of the largest Broccoli States led to the first cybernetic enhanced soldiers that were controlled remotely by the military. To become more efficient, the controllers themselves became increasing integrated in a larger network controlled by the highest levels of government. As the State emerged victorious, all Broccoli became subjected to cybernetic enhancement and integrated into a vast reaching network. The Primary Node was formed around the embattled leader and the Collective emerged. They quickly spread across the entire planet, adding all other Broccoli and the Brussels Sprouts to the Collective. The increasingly efficient system of industry and resource harvesting has left the Broccoli homeworld nearly desolate, and the Broccoli have turned to space to continue their quest.
