Corn Coalition
The Corn Coalition is composed of a number of nation states, creating a tumultuous atmosphere that sometimes leads to
internal conflicts. Intense rivalries between factions often overshadow commitment to improving crumbling economic and educational
infrastructure limiting the Corn's potential.

Biology
Corn are tall, rigid veggienoids that are bi-pedal and covered in a bright yellow skin of many small, plump kernels.
They prefer the temperate to sub-tropical climates of rocky planets and breath carbon dioxide. A typical Corn has a mass of 300g and a height of 20cm,
male Corn being slightly larger than females on the average. Corn are rather strong and have excellent hearing to make up their lack of mobility
and poor vision. The Corn's inner cob is composed mostly of amlyopectin, a tough starch polymer that provides ample protection to the internal
organs. Reproduction occurs when female Corn allow specialized kernels to be fertilized by male Corn and then deposited into the soil. The kernels
grow into large stalks that produce an average of 1 or 2 mature individuals after about 160-180 days. Corn require a variety of nutrients and
water for nourishment. The average Corn individual lives 25-30 years.
Society
The Corn are fragmented into a number of nations based on their variety, the region they inhabit, and religious
beliefs. Although each nation is self-governed, most of them participate in the global Confederate government that regulates economic, resource, and
ecological matters. Each nation sends a number of representatives to sit on the Confederate council that is responsible for new global laws. The
Chancellor leads the council and is chosen by its members to serve for 1 year and cannot be selected for consecutive terms. Corn life varies by
region, but most Corn enjoy the same rights and freedoms despite otherwise extensive laws. Regional rivalries are often intense and spill over in
patriotic celebration and propaganda. The majority of Corn are employed in the agriculture and industrial services, and many nations require mandatory
military service. Most of the technological development is accredited to the national rivalries. Corn live in a mixed collection of rural and urban
communities where resources and employment are readily available.
History
The beginnings of many Corn nations can be traced back to the earliest recorded history. At some point or another many of
the nations have gone through a cycle of dominance and downfall, while others have merged or simply were destroyed. One consistent factor throughout
history has been war. As time progressed, wars become more devastating and widespread. New weapons that were developed were powerful enough to effect
and cause destruction to distant or neutral nations. The formation of the Coalition was an attempt to introduce a form of order and offer a
solution to war through diplomacy and negotiation. Although the Coalition has not always been successful at preventing outbreaks of war, it has
been effective enough to bring an era of relative peace and stability. Many of the Corn nations now resort to proclaiming their own superiority
through economic influence or space exploration.
